ENTER THE PAGEANT

 

CONTEST RULES & ENTRY CRITERIA

 

  • Eligibility & Acceptance

All applicants must be aged 18 to 33 and a legal resident of the United Kingdom at the time of the pageant (ID will be required). Each applicant must be of good moral character and possess charm, poise, and personality. All applicants must be of West Indian heritage (Verifiable proof will be required).

 

  • Code of Conduct

Contestants shall be a person whose background is not likely to bring in to disrepute the Mr and Miss West Indies UK (MMWIUK) Pageant title, its Licensees, Promoters or any associated persons or legal entities. The entrant affirms that he/she is and will continue to be a person of good moral character; that he/she has not committed and will not commit any act inconsistent with the highest standards of public morals and conventions or that will reflect unfavorably on the pageant, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees; that she has not appeared in, or posed for, any nude or provocative photographs prior to or during the time of the pageant, the finals of the pageant, or during his/her reign as Mr or Miss West Indies UK or contest runner-up.

Each contestants will conduct himself/herself in a courteous, professional manner at all times during the MMWIUK competittion and while representing his or her title.

No contestants will engage in acts of slander or libel against any other contestant, competion judge, MMWIUK staff or any other person or legal entity associated with the MMWIUK Foundation. Verbal and/or written defamatory remarks against MMWIUK Foundation will result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of all sponsorship, prizes and awards won, and potentially legal action against the guilty party.

Contestants must not publicly post slanderous remarks in any public medium including but not limited to public forums, social networks, blogs, news media or any other public domain.

Good sportsmanship is expected at all times, no disruptive behaviour before or during rehearsals

 

  • Contestants Agreement

By Entering this contest, each applicant agrees:

    1. To attend the all rehearsals, events, special appearances and the competion final. If selected as the King or Queen, a contestant will not enter or compete in any other regional, national or international pageant without the prior express written consent of the MMWIUK Foundation.
    2. That if selected as a winner of the MMWIUK Pageant, this agreement will be superceded by a formal contractual arrangement pertaining to the code of conduct, appearances and all work, including modelling, television, online digital media and film undertaken during their reign on behalf of MMWIUK.
    3. That MMWIUK Foundation, its management team and any pageant personnel, the pageant, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees will not be held liable for any accidental injury, theft of personal possessions or damage to personal possessions which occurs during the time of the MMWIUK Pageant.
    4. That MMWIUK Foundation, its management team and any pageant personnel, the pageant, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees will not be held liable for negligence or fraud on the part of pageant sponsors, judges, or contract vendors (e.g. photographers, videographers, etc.) who may provide products or services to delegates and winners at the finals.
    5. That MMWIUK Foundation, its management team and any pageant personnel, the pageant, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees will not be held liable for any loss, theft, or damage caused to any prizes, gifts, and awards bestowed upon contestants after these items become the property of contestants.
    6. To incur the costs of replacement and/or repair of lost, stolen, or damaged contest associate items for which they have been made responsible including but not limited to: crown/tiara, sash, plaques, trophies, etc.
    7. That the date/venue for the MMWIUK Pageant is subject to change and in such a case, the entrant will not be eligible for a refund.
    8. That prizes given by sponsors to prize winners will not be the responsibility of the MMWIUK Foundation.
    9. That the MMWIUK Foundation will not be held liable for the failure of any sponsor to fulfill promises of delivery of any of their prizes to winners.

 

  • Refund Policy

All fees paid to the MMWIUK Pageant are NON REFUNDABLE and NON TRANSFERABLE under any circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to entry fees, advertising fees, pageant admission ticket sales fees, guest meal fees and any other fees paid to the MMWIUK Foundation by anyone including, but not limited to, delegates, sponsors, and advertisers.

 

  • Photography & Videography

Each MMWIUK entrant authorises the use of his/her likeness in any Photography & Videography produced for the MMWIUK Pageant final. This includes use in print and in digital format including but not limited to publication via internet websites, social media, printed publications and promotional and advertising materials for all events leading up to and including, and the MMWIUK Pageant final.

 

  • Publicity and Promotion

By participating in the MMWIUK Pageant, each contestant

    1. Consents to the use of their name, likeness, voice and/or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion in perpetuity. Each contestants understands that his/her name, likeness, voice, and/or biographical information may be used on the Internet, in print advertising, press releases and merchandise related to the MMWIUK, contest (e.g., t-shirts,  other apparel,  and other promotional materials.)
    2. Agrees that all photography, videography and other multimedia materials submitted to the MMWIUK Pageant become the property of the MMWIUK Foundation and may be used for publicity and promotion by MMWIUK.
    3. Agrees to release MMWIUK from liability for any injury resulting from publicity and promotion.
    4. Agrees to waive any and all rights to compensation for the use of his/her name, likeness, voice, and /or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion by the MMWIUK Foundation, its management team, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees.

 

  • Sponsors

The MMWIUK 2017 Pageant will have affilated with it sponsors which will be classified as follows

    1. Pageant Title Sponsors
    2. Pageant Prize Sponsors
    3. Fast Track Sponsor*
    4. Contestant Sponsors* (one name Sponsors on “sash”).

 

  •  Agreement

By submitting  an application form and fee(s) to MMWIUK, each  contestant agrees to be bound by the terms, conditions and competition rules as described in the above paragraphs. This agreement shall be taken to include the entirety of the published agreement in this page and shall not be taken in part. Failure to be bound by the terms of this agreement by any contestant and/or any actions by a contestant which which violate the required stated standards of conduct resulting in the the potential threat of disrepute of the MMWIUK, may result in a negative judgement at the Director’s digression of that contestant's status with regard to continued affilation with the MMWIUK Foundation. The MMWIUK reserves the right to terminate the contestant contract with immediate effect and to reclaim any property granted to the contestant with regard to the Pageant and to authorize the distruction of any materials deemed harmful through association, to the MMWIUK Foundation, including but not limited to the deletion of all photography, videography or other recorded materials whether in digital, or print format, including but not limited to any materials which may contain the intellectual property of the MMWIUK Foundation including the MMWIUK logo, associated brands, the sash and the crown.
